I am really happy with how the strength classes have evolved at 5S Fitness, Macclesfield.

The strength classes started as set workouts where we had everyone work on one lift. For example, “today we are working on the back squat”.

However, it soon became apparent that this system wasn’t the most effective when people trained on different days and times… Some trained 1-2 times a week, some trained 5 days a week, some even trained twice on some days.

We decided we would turn the strength classes into supervised workouts. Our coaches programme 6 sessions of strength per week and the members simply work of the strength board, while the coaches walk around and take everyone through the lifts they are working on.

This system has created an awesome environment to strength train in, and has also took the members on leaps and bounds, not only in their performance, but in their knowledge of strength training.

I’m looking forward to watching the gym and our members develop over the next 12 months.
