So I have not done any ‘blogging’ in a while and lately I have really looked into ‘Regression’ this is mainly because this is my ‘current state’ I have not fully regressed but I have gone back a little bit.

Of course we are all different in every way from Size, shape, weight, height, what we like to eat, what we like to drink, our lifestyles, the list is endless, I have talked previously about how I have been struggling to get back into the gym or eating etc and I started to ‘over think’ every key aspect which is what most of us women seem to do.

Its only recently that I have actually started to ‘enjoy’ my training again I put so much pressure on myself because I have gained some weight that I was constantly having mindless battles with myself, don’t eat that or why are you not training, the conversations I have had with myself are endless.

Then I felt like something finally ‘clicked’ that light is shining brightly and I know how to get back on track and that’s ENJOYMENT, I had lost all the fun and enjoyment in my training, my eating that I lose sight of everything else with it.

I have found myself lately watching what others eat, taking note of their body shapes and sizes (not in a weird or creepy way lol) but I have taken more interest, I work in an office so seeing what others eat at lunch and throughout the day is fairly easy, I have to say though my office is not to bad when it comes to junk food (yes I admit accounts do have a sweetie jar with jelly babies and gummy sweets in). So when I was ‘nosing’ at others dinner and snacks I realised that people do eat carbs, they do eat yoghurts, crisps yes I understand that there is ‘Skinny Fat’ and I 100% stick by this I do think that just because people may be larger this by no means unhealthy or vice versa.

Basically I have found that just because one person is eating one thing and another something else it does not mean that either are bad.

I was a lot bigger somewhat years ago and I found what worked for me and I dropped around 3 stone, as we all do I then hit a wall but I was hungry for more, much more, so as most I upped my training with no rest days and longer time spent in the gym, I started crash dieting, trying all the new up and coming ‘fad diets’ I would give almost any diet a go, then as you can imagine instead of my weight going down it went up, my training went down, my enjoyment went down, my self-esteem went down, everything I wanted to go up went down and the one thing I wanted to go down went up. I have found for the past 4 months I have just not got back into much, I train but my heart isn’t in it, I meal prep but some of the foods I disliked so I found a lot was going to waste and I just felt a bit ‘crappy’ in myself. I’m still in that stage a little bit now and I feel poopy on some days but I have actually started to enjoy training again, I haven’t found it to be a hard work to go and run etc and I have found this by taking a HUGE step back and going back to what worked for me. I am going back to how I ate prior, yes I have a lot more knowledge know which has helped to have a wider range in foods which is even better but I have found the main key to everything is ‘balance and enjoyment’ you need both.

I used to plan what I was training when and plan food weeks in advance and it just doesn’t work for me. Instead I know I will do 3 cardio session and 3 weight/strength sessions per week, what I’ll do on what day and for how long who knows ill decide on the day what I feel like doing, it may be a 10k run it may be a beasty leg session but the key is training what you feel you want to and there is nothing wrong with that. I found that if you go into training doing something you really do not want to that you’re going to put in hardly any effort which means realistically you’re not really going to gain anything from the session, instead I have learnt to listen to my body NOT my head and I train what I know I can really go for that day =)

In regards to food, I’m a carb lover there is no denying it, I do stick to the complex carbs and that I know will keep me fuller for longer and the ones I enjoy.  Carbs may not be everyone’s friend I understand that but there my friend and they work for me.

The main key to stopping ‘Regression’ I have found is a well-balanced lifestyle, food and training and those little naughtiness we also crave, as long as the snacks are done in moderation and work with you then I say ‘GO FOR IT’ I have spoken with many different people in regards to food and training and I found every single person will tell you almost something entirely different yet the outcome will be ‘balance’ you have to do what suits you and your body.

I now plan to enjoy what I do, training, eating an all-round balance.

Just remember to do what you enjoy and the rest will all fall into place.
