5S Athlete Jane has completed another Ultra Marathon, this time “The Wall” (69 Miles) just four weeks after running 10o miles!

A few words from Jane:

“After completing the Chester 100 four weeks ago I then ran The Wall Ultra, 69 miles from Carlisle to Newcastle through Hadrian’s Wall country.

Myself and two friends entered this event to fundraise for Young Minds and have smashed our target of £500.

Most of the route is on the road which resulted in sore feet for us and many other runners but the countryside was stunning and made up for the pain and fatigue!  There is plenty of Roman history in the area which appealed to us and well worth a visit.

This was a tough event organised by Race Race Adventure Sports and not one to undertake lightly. You had 26 hours to complete the distance and there were plenty of checkpoints/pit stops along the way to keep you going. The last few miles were a hard, painful slog into Newcastle and the finish over the Millennium Bridge. We were on auto pilot at that point, hobbling due to our feet but the memories will stay with us for a very long time.

We finished in 22:44:33.

I am in recovery mode now for a week before I start easing back in and preparing for my next ultra. Will be doing a lot of gym work.
