Stir FryNutrition, an easy process for some and complete witchcraft for others, however all will completely agree that nutrition is largely the most important factor in the performance circle, with the other two thirds being rest and training itself. However, just as with training, very simple, basic rules get over looked as the majority of athletes seek for the newest, most advanced method of putting on that lean mass or increasing those deadlift numbers. Its not that I’m against new and improved methods, we should constantly strive for new, innovative ways to increase our performance but time and time again its the old methods that stand the test of time and the reason is simple. Our body hasn’t changed much in the past few hundred years when weight training first started.

Rule 1 : Consistency

Consistency is key. Not just for nutrition but the entire performance circle. In nutrition it is massively overlooked and at such a key point because ultimately its the fuel that drives our machine to keep going. There is absolutely no point in prepping amazing, healthy meals, full of good quality protein, complex carbs and natural, mono-saturated fats for 1 week of the training cycle, then blow it out the water by tucking into the colonel’s chicken and smashing ben and jerry’s the following 5 weeks.

Nutrition is a hard one to nail down admittedly with so many foods being processed, refined and full of sugar. Few of us have no drama what so ever eating healthily, for most of us its just as hard work as driving that iron in the gym. Consistency is that deciding factor that’ll determine whether all your hard work shows or goes. And its as simple as that.
