This rule is definitely just for nutrition on the performance circle. Cheating is good!
Never ever go cold turkey and just cut all the sugar and crap straight from your diet. Your blood sugar levels and insulin spikes will go through the roof and you will inevitably find yourself eating all the carb filled, sugary goodness you vowed you would never touch again. Cheat meals, or even whole cheat days, are a great way to keep yourself sane and give you a good milestone to get to. Yes we know this food is not good for us, but we enjoy it, it releases endorphins and gives us that much coveted sugar rush. We eat healthily and train to balance our slightly unhealthy lifestyle out.
Once again if your training solely for performance, then it isn’t so much of a big deal providing you stay within the realms of a set weight class. When training for aesthetics, cheat meals are still important but you will still need to monitor exactly how much, and of what type of treat, you indulge in. Keep consistent and stay within a health conscious mindset, by all means enjoy your treats. You’ve earned them.
