When it comes to personal training with male clients, building lean muscle whilst stripping excess fat is definitely the most common of goals.
This is more than achievable with the right training and nutritional regime… Its not a case of you either bulk, or you stip… Yes if you concentrate on one or the other this will allow you to specifically hone your programme and therefore achieve your results much faster, however achieving a good level of both is a decent goal to have.
Whilst training at the 5S Fitness Facility (Macclesfield) I can push a client through the training regime I have set for them, ensuring they complete the work required for them to achieve the results they want… I can also provide them with the nutritional programming that is specific to their individual needs and goals… However this is often the area where people are going to fall off the wagon.
Regardless of how much nutritional work I do with the client, it is up to them to prep and consume the nutrition I have set for them to intake each day. We can easily achieve the training goals in the few hours we spend in the gym each week… But it is up to the client to maintain their nutrition (and activity levels) throughout the rest of the week.
In my personal opinion, when it comes to developing a good physique, its not the training that’s the hard part, its the nutrition… When it comes to developing muscle, it takes a whole lot of nutrients to fuel that growth!… If your not growing, your not eating enough!
Moral of the story… Training is vital, but if you want to really smash your goals your going to have to get a grip of your diet! If you want to build muscle, your going to have to “Up” your intake… If your wanting to strip any excess fat, your going to have to clean up all them “Empty Calories” your taking in i.e. Refined Sugar, Alcohol etc. (Abs are made in the kitchen)
